Treatment Modalities
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing):
This therapy approach encourages a client to focus briefly on a traumatic memory while also incorporating bilateral stimulation (BLS) or any back-and-forth movement (eye movements, tapping, buzzers, etc.). BLS is used to reduce the amount of distress associated with the target trauma memory.
EMDR therapy is an effective therapy method proven to help people recover from trauma experiences and PTSD symptoms. EMDR has been researched and can work faster than other therapeutic modalities that focus on just the cognitive parts of the brain.
When bringing the mind and body together to process information, healing can happen at a more rapid pace. EMDR is also offered through intensive sessions (90+ minutes). EMDR is the main treatment modality utilized at Quilling Counseling LLC.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
This approach is integrated with EMDR and works with various parts of the system in order to heal the parts that have been wounded.
Sand Tray and Play Therapy
This modality is primarily used with children and has also been found useful in treating all ages who hold child-like parts. It utilizes self-expression and processing through the power of play and imagination for when words are not accessible.
Other Modalities Include:
Mindfulness
Brainspotting
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
